Expect More Soon: I Said Look at the Country's Rating, Don’t Embarrass Yourself – Mayor of Gyumri

I have said to form a union as an independent state. Just look at the uproar these people have raised, distorting my words. This was stated by Gyumri’s Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan during a conversation with reporters, referring to his statement that a union should be formed with Russia, and those who oppose it are cowards.

“What can I say, people, who are you waiting for? Can we compare a Turk and a Russian? In 1056, this nomadic clan came, and since then, the Armenian nation has been fighting with them. They have taken 95% of our lands, and can we compare and say that these guys might be better?” he said.

Referring to the topic of peace, Ghukasyan stated, “This kind of peace is not needed for my kind. Then who is guaranteeing peace? Who is going to put a muzzle on Turkey? They said, ‘Give Artsakh, and then there will be peace.’ You gave Artsakh, was there peace? Now they will take Zangezur, do you know if there will be peace? Can America or Europe stop this barbaric nation? Never trust it; remember that whatever you give, they will want more. The only guarantee to stop them is to arm ourselves, have a powerful army, and a strong country.
