No Evidence of Soldier's Food Misappropriation by Manvel Grigoryan, Lawyer Says

Former MP and former president of the Union of Armenian Volunteers, Manvel Grigoryan's health condition is showing improvement due to the involvement of doctors, Grigoryan's lawyer Arsen Mkrtchyan stated today during a press briefing with journalists at the court, as reported by Aysor.am.

The defense team is appealing the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court's decision to extend Manvel Grigoryan's detention period in the Court of Appeals. Today's session was postponed as the prosecutor had just joined the examination of the appeal.

The lawyer noted that a review of the case materials reveals that “there is no instance of the misappropriation of soldier's food.”

“There are neither evidence nor testimonies in the case materials to substantiate any of this,” Mkrtchyan stated.

Simultaneously, the lawyer remarked that the National Security Service, which announced the revelations in this case, has “performed excellently in its duties.”

“Let’s differentiate between the preliminary investigation and operational works from the trial. I can say that no complaints have been made regarding operational intelligence work. People have gone and discovered unregistered weapons and other properties and have provided that information to the Special Investigative Service, where the preliminary investigation is being conducted. Now, how this will be evaluated, whether there is a criminal composition or not, and whether our defendant is related to all of this - the final assessment should be given by the court,” Mkrtchyan noted.

When asked why those items were found in Manvel Grigoryan's residence and storage facilities, Mkrtchyan responded, “But that question is not about Manvel Grigoryan. He states that he has no connection with any of this. And in fact, he truly has no connection.”
