Trump's Gaza Plan Was a Betrayal for Netanyahu: Financial Times
US President Donald Trump's peace plan for the Gaza Strip was an unexpected and unpleasant turn of events for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, perceived as a betrayal, according to the Financial Times, citing sources familiar with the situation.
Previously, President Trump had unveiled a 20-point peace plan for Gaza. The proposal includes, among other things, an immediate ceasefire contingent upon the release of hostages within 72 hours. The plan also stipulates that Hamas and 'other groups' must agree not to participate in Gaza's governance, whether directly or indirectly. Control of Gaza is to be transferred to technocratic authorities under the supervision of an international body.
According to the plan, the 'Peace Council' will include Trump himself, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and other political figures. The publication reported that the proposal regarding Gaza was presented to Netanyahu during a visit to New York in the presence of his closest advisers and US representatives.
