Proposal to Align Judicial Code Regulations with Constitutional Court Ruling

Proposal to Align Judicial Code Regulations with Constitutional Court Ruling

A legislative proposal has been put forth to align the regulations of the Judicial Code with a ruling from the Constitutional Court. Accordingly, decisions to impose disciplinary liability on judges and members of the Supreme Judicial Council, as well as to revoke their powers, initiate criminal prosecution, or deprive them of liberty, must be made by a majority of the total votes of the members of the Supreme Judicial Council.

This legislative regulation was presented for discussion in the National Assembly's Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs by Deputy Minister of Justice Tigran Dadunts. The issue pertains to an amendment to the Judicial Code of the Republic of Armenia.

In an accompanying report, the committee's deputy chair, Arusyak Julhakyan, proposed a favorable conclusion regarding the matter. The draft law has received a positive conclusion.
