Our 'Revolutionary' Fig Tree is Still Fruitless. Ruben Melikyan

The former Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, Ruben Melikyan, has commented on the statement issued by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group on his Facebook page, noting:

“If the political upheavals that took place in Armenia in 2018 (call it whatever you want) are not ‘capitalized’ by strengthening our positions on the Artsakh issue, then all of it will retrospectively become absolutely meaningless—like the well-known evangelical fig tree. For me, the Artsakh issue is the absolute priority of our statehood.

All other issues, no matter how important, should be considered in a subordinate ‘basket’ of priorities compared to the Artsakh issue (although the 'revolutionary' government also lacks clarity on other issues). The statement from the co-chairs of the Minsk Group today confirmed that our ‘revolutionary’ fig tree is, unfortunately, still fruitless—despite the truly commendable efforts of our diplomats.

P.S. To prevent any possible misunderstanding, I would like to emphasize that I have never considered any leader of Armenia (including the current Prime Minister) a traitor or ‘land surrenderer,’ and I still do not.”
