IAEA Not Conducting Inspections in Iran, Says Foreign Ministry
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is currently not conducting any inspections in Iranian territory. This was stated by the official representative of Iran's Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baghaei, during a press briefing.
Earlier, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had announced that the agreement with the IAEA established in Cairo in September, which outlined the framework for cooperation between the agency and Iran in light of attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, is no longer sufficient following the decision of the 'E3' to restore international sanctions. Tehran intends to make new decisions regarding this matter.
Iran had earlier indicated that the agreement with the IAEA would be considered nullified in light of the imposition of sanctions. At the end of September, resolutions suspended under the 2015 nuclear deal were restored by the UN Security Council, which include sanctions against Iran.
