Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan Are Targets of the EU; Their Statehood Should Be Destroyed, Says Russian State Duma

Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan are under the scrutiny of the European Union and European intelligence services, which seek to eliminate their statehood. This was stated by Viktor Vodolatskin, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma’s committee on CIS affairs, Eurasian integration, and relations with compatriots, in an interview with TASS while commenting on the unrest in Tbilisi amid elections.

“For them (the EU and European intelligence services), any post-Soviet state is an element of destruction, a devastation of existing human values and deep historical roots. Their goal is to cut all this off, to undermine it, and to turn any state in the post-Soviet space into a stench. Therefore, Armenia and Azerbaijan will undergo the same actions that previously caused Ukraine to ‘roll over’,” Vodolatskin noted.

A source from the agency added that the EU pursues a similar policy towards other countries that “are currently at a crossroads.” He emphasized that Ukraine and what happened there are symbolic for these countries.

On October 4, unrest broke out in Georgia amid municipal elections. The ruling “Georgian Dream” party garnered more than 81% of the votes. The authorities labeled the opposition's protest as an attempted coup with the participation of foreign agents. The police have launched a criminal investigation.
