Civic Contract Gives Negative Conclusion on Proposal to Disapprove Prime Minister

The proposal for a declaration is premature. This was stated by the governing faction of the 'Civic Contract', Deputy Arusyak Julhakyan, in reference to the declaration proposal of the 'I Have Honor' faction.

Earlier, it was reported that the opposition 'I Have Honor' faction presented a statement on the 'National Crisis and Governance Failure' in the Permanent Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly.

“In your title, you wrote 'National Crisis and Governance Failure'; what national crisis are you referring to? Go out to the streets and show us the crisis. You chose the word 'national' to sound more pathetic? Who in our nation is in crisis? Are the Armenians from Australia or Mogadishu?” said the report's co-reporter Julhakyan.

According to the ruling deputy, a change of power can occur through elections. “Civic Contract does not hold power in more than 40% of local self-government bodies; it is either in opposition or is not represented at all. Therefore, address the people,” continued Julhakyan.

The secretary of the 'Armenia' faction, Arzvik Minasyan, responded by reminding the majority of the constitutional norm, which states that the people do not elect the Prime Minister in Armenia; the people elect parties and alliances that then form a government in Parliament. Minasyan emphasized that changing the government at any time is the responsibility of those deputies, and it is unacceptable to place everything on the people.

After a prolonged debate between the opposition and the government, the opposition's proposal received a negative conclusion against the 'Civic Contract' faction.
