Sharmazanyan Reveals Talks of Serzh Sargsyan on Artsakh Issue from 2008 to 2018

Sharmazanyan revealed what Serzh Sargsyan negotiated regarding the Artsakh issue from 2008 to 2018.

Member of the Executive Body of the Republican Party, Eduard Sharmazanyan, wrote on his Facebook page: “The one who holds Artsakh, what debate can he have with the one who surrenders it? Even in April 2022, the Republican Party demanded that Pashinyan publish the negotiation package presented to him in 2019. He can also publish the package negotiated by Serzh Sargsyan from 2008-2018. There is no issue. Let him publish it, and you will all be convinced that there is no topic for debate.”

“So, what did Serzh Sargsyan negotiate? Let me briefly present. During the negotiations on the Artsakh issue from 2008 to 2018, the Armenian authorities negotiated the clarification of the status of Artsakh through a referendum, specifically the issue of the international recognition of the actual independence of Artsakh. Moreover, under the leadership of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, the Armenian side agreed to both options for organizing the referendum:

• Option 1: A deadline is set for holding a legally binding referendum, which would be conducted within specific time frames in Artsakh, with Armenian forces withdrawing from seven regions.
• Option 2: The fact of holding a legally binding referendum in Artsakh is determined without specifying a specific date, which would result in the Lachin and Kelbajar regions remaining under Armenian control until the referendum is held, while Armenian forces would withdraw from five regions.

This means that the issue of Lachin and Kelbajar was closely linked to the holding of the referendum in case no specific date was mentioned. That is why, after the 44-day war, Ilham Aliyev stated regarding Kelbajar that “Kelbajar should remain with the Armenians.” This is what Serzh Sargsyan was negotiating, to which the capitulator Pashinyan attached a label, stating that he would return to the package negotiated by Serzh Sargsyan whenever he wanted.

Then return, what’s holding you back? Return the 5,000 lives of our sons, the health of tens of thousands of wounded, 150,000 Artsakh Armenians to their homes, and return the prisoners from Baku to their homeland, and return the Armenian parades in Stepanakert… After all this, these people still shamelessly talk.

Now compare what Sargsyan negotiated and the loss of Artsakh and depopulation resulting from Pashinyan’s negotiations.
P.S. This was also clearly stated by Russian President V. Putin in the fall of 2023. He said, ‘For all previous years, everything revolved around the status of Karabakh. Pashinyan closed this topic.’”
