Nearly 1000 People Trapped on Everest Due to Avalanche

According to Chinese state media, rescuers are attempting to clear the roads leading to the eastern slopes of Mount Everest, where nearly 1000 people have been trapped due to an avalanche. This has been reported by Reuters.

Hundreds of rescuers and locals have been dispatched to clear the snow from areas located at over 4900 meters above sea level. Some tourists have already been successfully lowered to safety at the mountain's base.

The snowfall began on Friday evening and continued throughout the day.
