White House to Lay Off About One Third of Its Employees
The White House intends to lay off approximately one third of its employees due to the partial shutdown of the federal government. This was stated in a plan published on the White House website.
According to the document, out of the 1,733 White House employees, 554 will be temporarily furloughed. The remaining staff will continue their regular work.
According to the plan, the Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE), previously overseen by entrepreneur Elon Musk, will not be affected by the shutdown measures. All 45 of its employees will continue to work.
The Office of Management and Budget of the White House will retain 437 of its 530 employees.
It is worth noting that the federal government of the United States has partially ceased its operations. This occurred because representatives of the ruling Republican and opposition Democratic parties in Congress failed to reach an agreement on a range of expenditures, including healthcare. They accused each other of instigating the government shutdown and prolonging it for political purposes.
