Greece Will Remain an Ally of Israel, Says MFA Spokesperson

Greece will remain an ally of Israel despite the ongoing military operations in the Gaza Strip and the detention of the 'Resilience Flotilla' ships, announced the spokesperson for the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lena Zoziou.

In early September, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated at the UN General Assembly that Israel's aggressive actions would deprive it of international support and alienate its remaining allies. ‘We have obviously not yet reached that point. We have a strategic partnership with Israel that we definitely want to maintain,’ she said during a press briefing, responding to a journalist's question about whether the detention of the 'Resilience Flotilla' ships is part of a strategy that could lead to the loss of 'even such a reliable ally as Greece.'

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously reported that Israeli naval forces detained several ships of the 'Resilience Flotilla,' which had joined the 'Sumuda Global Flotilla' activist group attempting to reach Gaza to break the blockade, directing them to an Israeli port.
