Change the Narrative: Calls from the Civil Contract Party Deputies to Azerbaijani Colleagues

Following the meeting between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President Ilham Aliyev, both countries have issued a joint statement noting that the road passing through the sovereign territory of Armenia is named TRIPP. This was announced by Arthur Hovhannisyan, the head of the Civil Contract parliamentary group, during a press briefing in the National Assembly.

“It is Armenia that determines the names of places within its sovereign territory, and Azerbaijan determines the names of roads, cities, and villages within its sovereign territory. The rhetoric of the two leaders should clearly reflect the agreements... We ask and urge all our international partners, especially our Azerbaijani colleagues, to base their statements solely on the terms and language found in the signed documents; anything else is illegitimate and does not express the agreements, and yes, it is concerning,” said the deputy.

Hovhannisyan also referred to the statement adopted by the National Assembly yesterday regarding the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which emphasizes the importance of the documents signed on August 8 and supports the agreements and processes established by those documents. He criticized the parliamentary opposition for boycotting the vote.
