We Will Focus on Increasing Support for Ukraine: Costea

The leaders of European Union member states will gather today in Copenhagen for an informal meeting of the European Council, dedicated to strengthening EU defense and increasing assistance to Ukraine.

“We will focus on two areas: reinforcing Europe’s collective defense capability and increasing support for Ukraine,” said European Council President Antonio Costea.

Reports also indicate that discussions on strengthening European defense will include recent violations of airspace by drones in several EU countries, for which Brussels holds Russia responsible.

The European Council believes these incidents highlight the need for the EU to accelerate and intensify efforts to build a Europe capable of responding effectively and independently to common threats.
