Turkologist Varuzhan Geghamyan writes on his Telegram page: “Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei has reiterated the message to Turkey's Erdogan and Russia's Putin that Iran will not tolerate the conquest of Armenia (specifically the Syunik region), which would lead to the closure of the Iran-Armenia border. This message was not only delivered in private conversations but also explicitly stated in a separate post on his Twitter microblog.

Once again, let us confirm that Syunik continues to remain Armenian, primarily thanks to Iran. Therefore, Armenian-Iranian relations must be elevated to a new strategic level, establishing this as one of the foundations of our new security architecture. Meanwhile, the capitulating government of Armenia, instead of deepening cooperation with Iran, has handed over the only road connecting Iran to Azerbaijan, with no new route available. Instead, they are actively engaging with Turkey, which has organized the closure of that very route, exchanging positive signals with them. This is what pro-Turkish sentiment looks like.”
