Turkey and Qatar to Pressure Hamas: The New York Times

The Palestinian Hamas movement may agree to a ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip proposed by the United States under the pressure of Qatar and Turkey, according to The New York Times.

“Hamas and its leadership are so exhausted from the war and are facing such open pressure from Muslim countries, including their sponsors Qatar and Turkey, that they may agree to the arrangement,” the publication noted.

The agency suggests that regardless of whether the group accepts the U.S. proposal or rejects it, Hamas will no longer be able to restore its former influence in Gaza and will lose control over the enclave.
