I want to thank General Lieutenant Artak Davtyan for his work during this period: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today introduced the newly appointed head of the Armed Forces General Staff, Onik Gasparyan, to the senior military personnel.

“I want to thank General Lieutenant Artak Davtyan for his work during this period. It should be noted that vast works have been carried out in the Armed Forces during this time, significant changes have occurred, and of course, a very large agenda has been formed which still needs to be implemented. I would like to greet and congratulate the newly appointed head of the Armed Forces General Staff, General Lieutenant Onik Gasparyan. Mr. Gasparyan is not new to the Armed Forces and, like Mr. Davtyan, has gone through all the ranks in military service. For a long time, he has held the position of the first deputy chief of the General Staff.

To be honest, having had closer interactions with our Armed Forces in my role as Prime Minister, I have made a very important and pleasant observation. Essentially, we can say that the military has matured as a community in Armenia, and today, the military is a large family that plays a crucial role in our statehood and whose existence is the most significant guarantee of our statehood and sovereignty. Of course, like any country, Armenia has both internal and external challenges, but the internal challenges will not be as pronounced and strong as the external ones, and in this, of course, our main force and guarantee are the Armed Forces, and the Armenian government must do everything possible to create conditions for the Armed Forces.

I think in the near future, Mr. Davtyan and I will analyze our joint work, noting what we have achieved, what we have not, and I hope we will come to common conclusions. Mr. Gasparyan, you have been fully involved during this period and are a participant in the processes taking place, and I am confident that the legacy of the changes will not only be secured but that the quality of our agenda and solutions to our problems will improve even further, and under your leadership, the Armed Forces will become more combat-ready on a daily basis,” Pashinyan said.

According to him, the image and public perception of the Armed Forces are at the highest level, and this is the best observation we can make.
