Russia Plans to Start Process of Replacing UN Secretary-General

Russia plans to initiate the process of electing a new UN Secretary-General during its presidency in October, stated Vasily Nebenzya, Russia's permanent representative to the UN, according to РИА Новости.

"Yes, indeed, we plan to start the process during our presidency," he noted. Nebenzya simultaneously indicated that the commencement of the process does not mean that the letter will be formalized in October. For example, the last time this occurred was in mid-December.
