Gnuni Market Entrepreneurs Were Informed About Upcoming Demolition Works: Khojayan

The Yerevan Municipality has been in negotiations with the entrepreneurs of Gnuni Market for about 3-4 months, and all have been informed about the planned demolition works. This was stated by Ruben Khojayan, the deputy head of the Urban Development and Land Control Department of Yerevan Municipality, during a conversation with journalists near the Gnuni market.

"We have satisfied their request to give them time until September 30 to move their goods and clear the stalls and booths. The discussions about goods being present in the stalls do not correspond to reality, because there is no stall currently being dismantled that contains property," Khojayan noted.

The Yerevan Municipality has not discussed providing new stalls to the entrepreneurs. "At this moment, there has been no such proposal or demand. There are also stall operators who had land lease agreements in due time, but their terms have expired. However, since those lease agreements have not yet been resolved at the State Cadastre Committee, no actions are being taken regarding them at this time," said the municipality representative.

Earlier, we reported that demolition works have been underway at Gnuni Market since early this morning.
