You Are Seeking Sorrow and Pain to Gather Political Points, Arthur Hovhannisyan to the Opposition

Arthur Hovhannisyan, the secretary of the "Civil Contract" faction in the National Assembly, addressing the parliament regarding the bill proposed by the "Armenia" faction on amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, stated that he sees no need to go into the substantive meaning of the opposition's proposal since his colleagues have already indicated that there is no need for such legislative changes.

He expressed a desire to talk about the opposition's goals, questioning what they intend to achieve with this. "Essentially, the opposition has brought its next false agenda and is trying to generate topics because the opposition, which has been annihilated, particularly after the pivotal documents signed on August 8, is constantly searching for agendas and themes to maintain its political existence until the end of this term. This is yet another instance, as just a few days ago there were hearings in this chamber that were also another false, fake agenda, an agenda about nothing, which our society, observing, understood what a disgraceful situation was happening here," the MP stated.

According to him, yet again a false agenda has been presented regarding the denial of the Armenian Genocide. “A statement was made that there is a total propaganda against genocide. This is simply a disgrace because the entirety of this thesis is fake. The observation that we must look at ourselves and understand what has happened to us during various historical periods is not about denying historical fact, but about self-reflection. First and foremost, we need to look and see what has happened to us in different historical periods so that these things do not happen again, and we can prevent similar tragedies that have occurred to our people,” Hovhannisyan said, accusing the opposition of playing with people's emotions.

“Just as you played with the grief of the victims of the 44-day war, the wounded, the disabled, and their relatives, just as you recently played with the grief of those involved in the incidents in Parakaram, you are wandering in sorrow and pain to gather political points,” the MP emphasized, calling on the opposition to stop generating false agendas.
