Trump Frustrated with EU Position
US President Donald Trump is frustrated with the European Union's leadership stance on sanctions against Russia’s trading partners that are buying carbon from them. This was announced by Matthew Whitaker, the US Permanent Representative to NATO, in Brussels.
“There are many other actions we can take regarding sanctions, including the shadow fleet of oil tankers. There are a number of measures we can undertake, but we cannot do this alone. I think this is one of the reasons for President Trump’s frustration with the EU,” he stated.
The Permanent Representative believes that Europe is effectively shifting the burden of sanctions onto the US, including regarding restrictions against countries like China, Brazil, India, and others, which continue to purchase Russian oil and gas.
