What Determines Putin's Participation in the G20 Summit in the U.S.

The participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the upcoming G20 summit in the United States will depend on the developments in relations between Moscow and Washington. This was stated by Russia's G20 Sherpa, Svetlana Lukash, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“It will depend on the developments of events and our relations, including with the United States,” Lukash said during the UN General Assembly. She emphasized that the final decision rests with Putin.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the 2026 G20 summit would be held in the United States for the first time in 20 years and would coincide with the country's 250th anniversary of independence. Miami has been chosen as the venue.

He also stated that he would welcome the participation of Russian and Chinese leaders, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, at the summit and is ready to discuss this issue if Moscow and Beijing express interest.
