There is no agenda for leaving the EAEU: Vagharchak Hakobyan
Vagharchak Hakobyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract party and deputy chairman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration, urges journalists not to generate discussions about leaving the EAEU. "There is no agenda for leaving the EAEU; on the contrary, we are deepening our relations with EAEU partners, and the draft discussed and voted on today attests to that," said Hakobyan, referring to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements about moving towards the EU from the podium of the UN.
He added, "We have significant achievements in our economy within the framework of the EAEU, and we appreciate that." In response to the assertion that it's impossible to be in two places at once, as asserted by Russian colleagues, Hakobyan replied, "We have the fact that the law on starting the process of EU membership has been adopted, we have announcements made, and we have the fact that we are a member of the EAEU; I ask you to look at the issue from this perspective."
It is worth noting that the committee today adopted a draft law on ratifying an amendment regarding a special mechanism for conducting studies and making decisions on the application or non-application of special protective, anti-dumping, and compensation measures in accordance with the agreement of May 29, 2014, on the Eurasian Economic Union.
