Surgeons Accidentally Removed Healthy Kidney of Man in France
In France, surgeons have mistakenly removed a healthy kidney from an elderly man instead of the diseased one. This was reported by The Daily Mail.
The 77-year-old Frenchman underwent cancer testing at a hospital near Paris. Based on the test results, he was scheduled for a nephrectomy—a kidney removal surgery.
Prior to the operation, the man correctly filled out the medical staff's checklist. However, upon waking from anesthesia, he discovered that the surgeons had removed his healthy kidney.
The man's life is no longer in danger, but his recovery prognosis has significantly worsened as he will now have to cope with cancer using only one diseased kidney.
