EU Officials Reluctant to Confront Russia Amid Fears of Military Conflict
Several European officials are unwilling to engage in confrontation with Russia following incidents involving unrecognized aerial objects, fearing the potential for military conflict on the continent. This was reported by the European publication Politico.
The report notes that the current deterioration in relations between Brussels and Moscow could lead to a moment akin to the ‘Franz Ferdinand moment’ (referring to the assassination of the Austro-Hungarian heir in Sarajevo, which effectively marked the beginning of World War I).
Additionally, the publication emphasizes that responding to threats allegedly originating from Russia is quite challenging within the public sphere, as the participating countries often have competing priorities.
It is worth recalling that the airport in the Danish city of Aalborg was temporarily closed and three flights were diverted due to unknown drone activity. Danish police later reported that the airport resumed operations, but at least 31 flights were canceled as a result of the drone activity.
