US President Donald Trump has published a screenshot on his Truth Social page, claiming that he is the acting president of Venezuela. The screenshot states that Trump 'assumed' this position in January 2026.

It is noteworthy that on January 3, the US carried out airstrikes on Venezuela, resulting in explosions in the capital city of Caracas and at the Fort Tiuna military base. Following the attacks, President Trump called the operation successful and announced that American forces had captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.

The White House chief emphasized that Maduro is 'no longer president' and that the US will take control of Venezuela 'until a transition of power occurs.'
