Russia Aims to Turn Moldova into a Stronghold Against Ukraine and the EU, Says Sandu
Russia aims to turn Moldova into a stronghold against Ukraine and the EU. This statement was made by Moldova's President Maia Sandu.
Parliamentary elections are taking place in Moldova today. President Maia Sandu has already cast her vote, according to News Maker.
“I voted for a parliament with which we can continue to maintain peace, that will respect the Republic of Moldova and its citizens, a parliament with which we will continue to build a European Moldova. Moscow has very high stakes, which is why it invests resources in Moldova's elections. This concerns not only us but also the war in Ukraine,” Sandu stated.
According to her, the Kremlin seeks to take control of power in Chișinău to use the country against Ukraine and EU member states.
It is worth noting that today parliamentary elections are being held in Moldova based on proportional representation. More than 2,200 polling stations have opened in the country, with 301 abroad, while there are only two in Russia and just 12 in Transnistria.
