Moldovan Authorities Closed Bridge Over Dniester River on Election Day

On the day of the parliamentary elections, Moldovan authorities have closed the bridge over the Dniester River, near the city of Kamenca in Transnistria and the Moldovan village of Senatovka. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

It was reported that traffic congestion on the bridge was caused by vehicles of Transnistrians wishing to participate in Moldova's parliamentary elections. Eyewitnesses stated that police attributed the congestion to a 'frozen program.'

Previously, Moldova's President Maia Sandu had accused Russia of attempting to influence the elections through priests of the Russian Orthodox Church and detainees in Moldovan prisons. She also stated that Russia seeks to turn Moldova into a launching pad for an invasion into Odesa.

The election precincts for the parliamentary elections in Moldova opened today. A total of twenty-three candidates, including 15 parties, four alliances, and four independent candidates, will compete for the 101 seats available in the parliament. Earlier, the State Duma had declared that Moldova is preparing to attack Transnistria.
