Israel Controls More Than Half of Gaza City
The Israel Defense Forces have taken control of more than half of Gaza City. This was reported by The Jerusalem Post, referencing its sources. According to Walla, over 800,000 Palestinians have already fled the capital, moving southward. More than 200,000 people remain in the city.
The Israeli military command is pleased with the results of the evacuation, which is necessary for moving into the depths of Gaza, the publication notes. The IDF's press service reported that troops continue to expand operations in the city area and carry out airstrikes on Hamas militant gathering places and the organization's underground infrastructure. In just one day, more than 120 targets were hit.
The military also stated that troops have neutralized explosive devices that were placed in the area. Israel's operation to capture Gaza is called "Gideon's Chariot." The army aims to destroy Hamas's infrastructure and encircle the militants. On September 19, the IDF reported that 480,000 residents had evacuated from the city.
