Murder Cases Decrease, Illegal Weapon Discoveries Double: Ministry of Internal Affairs Spokesperson
In Armenia, the number of murder cases has decreased in the period from January to August 2025 compared to the same timeframe last year. This was stated by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Narek Sargsyan, during a conversation with reporters.
“According to data for the past eight months, there have been two fewer murder cases compared to last year. Crimes committed with firearms have also decreased,” he emphasized.
Sargsyan also addressed circulating opinions that the number of gunshots in the country has increased and that the situation is out of control. “The vast majority of these gunshots are related to criminal proceedings with hooliganism characteristics and mainly pertain to shots fired from air guns or cases of shooting into the air. The claim that there is an extremely uncontrollable situation in the country is unfounded,” he stated.
According to him, in the first eight months of 2025, the police have discovered almost twice as many illegal weapons and ammunition compared to the same period in 2024.
