Israel Reports Iranian Intelligence Attempting to Recruit Citizens via Phone
The Israeli police press office has announced that hundreds of Israeli citizens have contacted the police today, reporting attempts by Iranian intelligence to recruit them through phone calls.
“In recent hours, numerous citizens have informed the police about approximately 100 phone calls received from unknown numbers, in which they were invited to join an Iranian organization,” the police press office stated.
The police believe that Iran is attempting to sow panic among the Israeli population during wartime, as well as to recruit Israeli citizens for gathering intelligence and carrying out terrorist activities in Israel.
“We urge the public to remain vigilant, report any unusual incidents to the Israeli police hotline, and refrain from cooperating with the enemy,” the press office added.
Previously, Israeli authorities reported dozens of cases of recruitment by Iranian agents targeting Israeli citizens. Iranians typically reach out to recruits via instant messaging applications, offering monetary compensation for carrying out various tasks within Israel, including photographing objects, spying on officials, and more.
