Iran Transfers Land to Russia for Railway Construction

Iran is accelerating the construction of the Rasht-Astara railway by transferring land to Russia. The Iranian government has transferred approximately 34 kilometers of land to Russia for the construction of the Rasht-Astara railway as part of the North-South International Transport Corridor, announced Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadigh.

According to her, nearly half of the land needed for the construction of the 162-kilometer railway section has been purchased. The land acquisition process is expected to be completed in the third decade of March 2026.
