Investigative Committee Does Not Provide Data on 300 Mercenaries Who Fought for Azerbaijan
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has not provided information on 300 mercenaries who fought for Azerbaijan during the 44-day war. In January 2023, the then President of the Investigative Committee, Arghishti Kyaramyan, announced during a broadcast on Armenian Public Television that factual data had been acquired regarding more than 4,000 individuals linked to at least 12 terrorist organizations, including the identification of around 300 terrorists.
The Sputnik Armenia news agency sent a written inquiry to the Investigative Committee requesting information about the mercenaries. 'The 300 mercenaries who participated in the 2020 44-day military operations have been identified, but the specified data is not subject to publication,' the Investigative Committee reported.
It is noteworthy that in the same interview, Kyaramyan mentioned that numerous crimes committed by Azerbaijan’s military-political leadership have been substantiated during the investigation, including crimes against humanity, incitement and conduct of aggressive warfare, unauthorized use of weapons, torture of prisoners, killing of captives, and desecration of corpses.
However, in response to our latest inquiry regarding the status of the initiated criminal proceedings, the Investigative Committee stated that 'the investigation is ongoing.'
