Aliyev Continues Propaganda Against Armenia: Suren Surenyants

Political analyst Suren Surenyants posted on Facebook: “The President of Azerbaijan again accused Armenia at the UN of ‘ethnic cleansing, military crimes, and ignoring peaceful settlement options.’ He even claimed that Armenia has capitulated and once again used the term ‘Zangezur corridor,’ referring to the Washington agreements.

This statement by Aliyev is not accidental. On international platforms, he continues his propaganda against Armenia, solidifying its image as ‘defeated’ and ‘guilty.’ He shows the internal audience a picture of a ‘final victory,’ keeping society in a state of constant mobilization.

Interestingly, Aliyev is likely encouraged by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recent confessional statements. Pashinyan publicly stated days ago: ‘The TPLF, the PKK, and the RSO continue to insist that I dragged Armenia into war. TPLF, PKK, and RSO, if I dragged Armenia into war, then what was an 18-year-old soldier from Armenia doing outside the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia in 2018?’ This means that the Armenian Prime Minister himself is presenting to international platforms the theses that Aliyev develops from the podium of the UN.

Under these circumstances, it is puzzling that the Armenian government plans to reduce the defense budget by about 15.2 percent. This is not only a serious security threat but is also perceived on international platforms as a signal of weakness and capitulation. Peace is not built on illusions or desires; it requires an appropriate balance of power, a diplomatic environment, and international guarantees. Nikol Pashinyan’s policies are not bringing peace, but new risks for Armenia’s security,” wrote the political analyst.
