Suspect in the Murder of Parakar Community Head Volodya Grigoryan Identified

The suspect in the murder of Parakar community head Volodya Grigoryan has been identified. According to MediaHub, the suspect is the brother of Grigor Ohanyan, a 29-year-old who was murdered in February and is the son of the aunt of former community head Mher Akhtoyan.

The law enforcement authorities discovered him right in his own home. The report states that "he was found thanks to the work of dog handlers. The dogs discovered traces of burned clothing, which led to the house of Akhtoyan's aunt's brother. After allegedly committing his actions, he tried to burn his clothes, but it did not burn completely. He then entered his house through a neighbor's yard in order to erase the traces and created a situation that made it seem like he had been home at that time. Law enforcement arrived at his house following the traces of the partly burnt clothing."

Ministry of Internal Affairs spokesperson Narek Sargsyan mentioned, "We cannot provide any new information." In response to a clarifying question regarding whether Akhtoyan's deceased aunt's brother's son had been detained in connection with the case, Sargsyan only noted, "Various individuals have been detained; there are no further details." Official confirmation is still pending.

It should be noted that a murder took place in the village of Mrdzavan on February 5, prior to the local government elections in Parakar. An attack occurred at the residence of administrative leader Mher Akhtoyan, resulting in the death of Akhtoyan's aunt's son, Grigor Ohanyan. In connection with the opened criminal case, Volodya Grigoryan's brother, 37-year-old Paykar Grigoryan, was detained and is currently under house arrest.
