Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs on the Investigation of the Murder of the Parakar Community Head
Intensive efforts are underway, but there is currently no new information. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Mkrtchyan during a conversation with NEWS.am, addressing the murder of Parakar community head Volodya Grigoryan.
“I will refrain from speculating or making any further comments at this moment. I will only mention that work is ongoing, and if there are any updates, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will certainly announce them,” he stated.
When asked if there is any suspect, the deputy minister responded, “At this moment, I do not have such information. What I do know is that work is ongoing, and I have no news to share.”
It is noted that on September 23, at 23:52, there was a report to the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs that shots had been fired on the Yerevan Highway in the village of Mrdzavan, Ararat Province, resulting in two fatalities and one injury. One of the deceased is community leader Volodya Grigoryan.
The second deceased is a police officer, Karen Abrahamyan, who was a member of the Criminal Police of Ararat in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He was not on duty at the time of the shooting and was a friend of Volodya Grigoryan.
The incident occurred directly in front of Volodya Grigoryan's home. Another individual, Artzrunn Galstyan, was injured as a result of the shooting.
It is reported that there are cameras at the crime scene, which, according to Sargsyan, have been seized. It should be noted that a criminal case has been initiated by the Vagharshapat investigative unit of the Ararat regional investigative department under Article 155, Part 1 (2 counts) (murder), Article 44-155, Part 1 (attempted murder), and Article 335, Part 1 (illegal trafficking of firearms, their essential components, ammunition, and other materials, devices, and objects) of the RA Criminal Code. Forensic examinations have been appointed during the preliminary investigation, and evidentiary and procedural actions are ongoing.
