Alen Simonian on the Murder of Valodya Grigoryan
Yes, there are issues, yes, the law enforcement must draw conclusions, and yes, it is a problem; what happened is categorically bad, it’s a door that should not have been opened and even approaching that door should not have been allowed. This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonian during a conversation with journalists regarding the murder of Parakar's community leader Valodya Grigoryan.
“I am very sorry, I once again extend my condolences to the family, and I believe that our law enforcement should at least quickly resolve this case,” Simonian noted. He excluded the possibility of a political order behind the murder. “Our authorities can be blamed for many things, but we neither beat people nor kill them. I exclude the possibility of a political context. We have approached the elections with great respect, we have approached the community leader as a person; there has been no issue or discussion of discomfort. There is a 99 percent likelihood that this is a problem with an interpersonal background,” the Assembly speaker stated.
It should be noted that earlier, on September 23rd, at 11:52 PM, a call was received by the police reporting gunshots in the Yerevan highway of the village of Mrdzavan in the Armavir region. There were 2 fatalities and 1 injury. One of the deceased was community leader Valodya Grigoryan.
