The government has approved the draft of the 2026 state budget, which will be sent to the National Assembly for approval.
The budget revenues are projected at 3 trillion 91 billion drams, with tax revenues amounting to 2 trillion 972 billion drams.
Budget expenditures are set at 3 trillion 628 billion drams, including current expenditures of 2 trillion 924 billion drams and capital expenditures of 704 billion drams.
The budget deficit is projected to be 537 billion drams, which is 4.5% of GDP. Minister of Finance Vahe Hakobyan has announced that next year a comprehensive health insurance program will be introduced, the program for housing and social support for displaced individuals will continue, a new system for assessing family vulnerability will be implemented (which was piloted this year in two regions), and the program for pensioners with post-payments in cashless transactions will continue.
According to Hakobyan, for the first time, the budget is being presented with a three-year outlook, detailing all program expenditures over the next three years.
The government aims to ensure a 7% economic growth in the upcoming budget, stating, “Although the economy registered a high real average growth of 8.2% between 2021-2024, this period has been marked by several important events that have had a significant impact on ensuring high economic growth, the effects of which will neutralize in the coming years,” as mentioned in the budget message.
