The Resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Cannot be Imposed from Outside
The German Foreign Minister Johan Wadephul stated that the two-state solution cannot be imposed from outside without negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.
“Israel's actions in Gaza are disproportionate, but the two-state solution can only be achieved through negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. This process cannot be rushed or imposed from outside. The residents of Gaza are living in hell on earth. Prolonged conflict cannot be resolved through terrorism, destruction, and death. The assault on Gaza City is absolutely the wrong path. Any step by Israel to expand its sovereignty in Judea and Samaria undermines the prospects for a stable resolution of the conflict,” said the foreign minister.
When asked about the possibility of imposing sanctions against Israel, he replied that Germany would discuss response measures for actions in Gaza and coordinate them with the European Union.
