EU to Abandon Russian Energy Sources by 2027, Says von der Leyen
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has announced that during the framework of the UN General Assembly, she discussed with US President Donald Trump the pressure on Russia through the abandonment of Russian energy sources. This was reported by the Interfax agency.
“We agree on the need to reduce Russia's revenues from fossil fuels, and as quickly as possible. That is exactly what Europe is doing with the help of our 19th package of sanctions. We are intensifying pressure by banning the import of Russian liquefied natural gas into European markets and targeting oil refineries and oil traders in third countries. By 2027, Europe will successfully close the page related to Russian fossil fuels,” the President of the EC stated.
