Currently, Work is Underway on the 42-Kilometer Section of the Zangezur Corridor: Hajiyev
According to forecasts, cargo transport through the Middle Corridor is expected to increase by more than 50 million tons. This was announced by Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan.
“Based on forecasts, cargo transport is expected to increase by over 50 million tons. To account for this growth, we are investing additional resources. The annual cargo handling capacity of Baku's port is 25 million tons, and work is underway to expand this capacity,” said Hajiyev.
The assistant to the President of Azerbaijan noted that since 2020, a railway project from Baku to the occupied Kovsakan and the Armenia border has been initiated. This project is set to be completed by mid-2026.
“Currently, work is underway on the 42-kilometer section of the Zangezur Corridor with the participation of our American partners. The third segment includes Nakhchivan. Additional investments are also being made in this area, and we invite collaboration with other international partners, including Europeans,” he stated.
