China Will Safeguard Its Interests Despite US Efforts to Halt Oil Imports from Russia
Chinese authorities will protect their country's legitimate interests in response to US President Donald Trump's attempts to obstruct international oil purchases from Russia. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zhao Lijian.
"China will take all necessary measures, and we will firmly safeguard our legitimate rights and interests," he emphasized.
The Chinese diplomat clarified that most countries, including the United States and the European Union, maintain trade relations with Russia. "Normal business relations and cooperation between Chinese and Russian companies are in accordance with World Trade Organization rules and market principles. They are not directed against any third party and should not be subjected to any interference," Zhao added.
According to the official representative, Beijing's stance on the Ukrainian crisis, which US authorities are attempting to link with Russian oil purchases, remains unchanged.
