Official of HETC Dismissed from Work

The "Armenian Electric Networks" company has informed its subscribers that on September 19, at 19:00, the substation at Myasnikyan 35/6 was completely de-energized due to the infiltration of rainwater into electrical equipment, which caused significant power outages in a large part of the Kentron administrative district of Yerevan.

The infiltration of rainwater was caused by the roof renovation works of the substation that started about a month and a half ago and have not yet been completed, carried out by one of the contracting companies. The head of the substation maintenance group of HETC LLC had repeatedly warned the head of the High Voltage Networks Maintenance Service, T.V., about the delays in the timeline for the aforementioned work, stating that by demonstrating negligence, he not only failed to take measures to rectify the situation but also did not properly inform the immediate leadership and responsible divisions.

Considering the fact that due to T.V.’s negligence and the inadequate organization of work within his powers, HETC LLC failed to fulfill its obligation to supply uninterrupted electricity in a specific area and at specific times, resulting in a major emergency and causing inconvenience to approximately 20,000 subscribers, T.V., the head of the High Voltage Networks Maintenance Service of HETC LLC, has been dismissed from his position.

Additionally, an official letter has been sent to the contracting company concerning the property damage caused by their improper execution of contractual obligations, as well as related expenses during the power outage period. In light of the above, upon receiving this preliminary demand, the contracting company is obliged to restore the damage caused to HETC LLC by bringing the substation back to a proper operational state within a short period.

The further development of the emergency situation was prevented by the immediate intervention of the central management service, the staff of the group of substations of HETC LLC, and the technical management of HETC LLC. The power outage lasted a total of 1 hour and 45 minutes, after which electricity supply was restored to all addresses.
