The Ministry of Internal Affairs Informs About Compensation for Damages in Lori and Tavush Regions

The Ministry of Internal Affairs informs how individuals affected by the flood disaster can receive compensation. Details of compensation for individuals impacted by the disaster in the Lori and Tavush regions are presented.

Who can receive compensation?
Owners of real estate acquired in any legally permitted manner (including methods that could have been the basis for the acquisition of property rights under equal conditions) who suffered damage (destroyed, collapsed, lost, made emergency, subject to demolition, partially damaged) due to floods resulting from heavy rains that occurred on May 25-26, 2024 in the Lori and Tavush regions are eligible for compensation as a result of the emergency situation.

What damages are eligible for compensation?
In accordance with the accepted procedures, damages caused to apartments in multi-apartment buildings or individual residential houses and essential household items will be compensated. Issues concerning other damages will be regulated in the near future.

When can one apply for compensation?
Individuals can submit applications electronically for compensation designation and payment from July 15, 2024, to September 30, 2024, inclusive. Clarifications will be provided regarding the details of application submission, and formats will be developed.

In what way and how much will the damages of beneficiaries be compensated?
- In the event of the loss of an apartment in a multi-apartment building or an individual residential house, individuals will be provided with a certificate for purchasing an apartment. The loss is considered to be the fact of destruction, collapse, or emergency condition (4th or 5th degree damage) resulting from the emergency situation.

- In the event of loss of an apartment in a multi-apartment building or individual residential house (except for apartments in emergency multi-apartment buildings where no flood has been recorded by the republican commission assessing damage caused by the emergency situation), individuals will also be provided with monetary compensation necessary for securing household primary items in the amount of 1,200,000 (one million two hundred thousand) AMD.

- In the case of damage to residential areas of multi-apartment buildings or individual residential houses, individuals will receive compensation for repair costs, as well as for damages caused to essential household items. Compensation for repair per square meter (but no more than 80 square meters) is as follows:
1) For the communities of Alaverdi in the Lori region and Ayrits in the Tavush region: 60,000 (sixty thousand) AMD;
2) For the communities of Tumanyan, Pambak, Tashir, Stepanavan, Gyulagarak in the Lori region, and Archis, Bagratashen, Debedavan, Vahagnak in the Tavush region, as well as Dilijan and Ijevan communities: 40,000 (forty thousand) AMD.

For damage to essential household items, compensation is as follows:
1) For the communities of Alaverdi in the Lori region and Ayrits in the Tavush region: 1,200,000 (one million two hundred thousand) AMD;
2) For the communities of Tumanyan, Pambak, Tashir, Stepanavan, Gyulagarak in the Lori region, and Archis, Bagratashen, Debedavan, Vahagnak in the Tavush region, as well as Dilijan and Ijevan communities: 800,000 (eight hundred thousand) AMD.

When will the compensation be provided?
The application will be approved or rejected within 10 working days following the date of submission. Immediate electronic notification will be sent to the beneficiary's feedback email address or mobile phone number regarding the decision.

In the case of compensation for residential area damage repair and for essential household items, the first payment will be made within 5 working days after the approval of the application. In the case of compensation for purchasing an apartment through the certificate method, the certificate will be issued by the respective governor's office within two months following the approval of the beneficiary's application. The remaining payments will be made in portions in compliance with the established conditions and application of independent payment limits.
