Russia Will Respond to Any Attack on Frozen Assets, Ambassador
Any attack by Belgium on Russia's frozen assets will not go unanswered, said Denis Gonchar, the Russian ambassador in Brussels, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“Our position is crystal clear and has been clearly communicated to the Belgian leadership. Any attack on our assets will be considered a violation of international law, bilateral agreements, and contractual obligations. This applies not only to the relationship between Russia and Euroclear, but also to the international documents signed by Belgium,” he stated in the interview.
“Any attempt at seizure will not go unanswered. Belgium will be the first to pay the price; its reputation as a reliable partner will be destroyed, investor confidence will be undermined, and the investment image built over decades will collapse in an instant,” the diplomat emphasized.
