Avoid Sharing Your Online Banking App Account Credentials, Cyber Police Warns

Avoid providing your online banking app account username, password, and the banking code received via SMS to any individual, warns the Cyber Police of the Republic of Armenia.

If you receive a call via a communication app (WhatsApp, Viber, etc.) claiming to verify an attempt to obtain a loan in your name or for other security purposes and requesting your banking code received via SMS for accessing your banking app account, do not trust it.

In reality, these so-called "employees" initially ask you to enter your online banking account username and password via a provided link in order to resolve purported issues, and then to provide the banking code. As a result, by accessing your account, criminals change your password, locking you out and consequently stealing both the funds available in your account and any loans taken out in your name online.

Remember, bank employees make calls in Armenian, reach out without any app assistance, and never send links via any applications. They do not ask you to enter your account username and password through a designated link or request the banking code sent via SMS.
