Armenia Has Done Much Regarding Peace Agreement with Azerbaijan: Kós
Each country has the right to choose its destiny, its path, its community, and its partners. Armenia has recently done much, particularly regarding the peace agreement with Azerbaijan. This was stated today by the European Union (EU) Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kós, at a press conference held in Yerevan.
“Of course, you know there is a difference between the Russian and European approaches. The European approach is that we want to see your economy strong. We want to see your society strong. We want Armenia to have strong and resilient institutions that can defend democracy, free media, and civil society. On the other hand, we have a concept, and this is not something we only see here in Armenia. We see this Russian concept everywhere, and I would say there is a kind of competition between the European and Russian ways of life. Russia does not want countries to be economically strong, democratic, or independent. Why? Because then it is impossible to control them. And returning to your question about what we are ready to do, we want to strengthen your economic and social resilience,” the EU Commissioner noted.
