The Issue of Artsakh Cannot be Closed: Samvel Shahramanyan

The issue of the return of Artsakh is not just a concern for the residents of Artsakh; it is a matter for all Armenians, and we expect to reach a consensus on it, which, unfortunately, does not currently exist. This was stated by the former president of Artsakh, Samvel Shahramanyan, during a speech at Yerablur.

"The issue of Artsakh cannot be closed as long as the people of Artsakh are deprived of their homeland, their graves, their sacred sites. We believe that sooner or later, all of this will receive the appropriate evaluation," he said.

Regarding the issue of the captivity of Artsakh's military and political leadership, he noted that the government of Armenia has not met with him or engaged in any discussions.

"Following the forced displacement, we raised the question of exhuming the remains of about 66 individuals who perished as a result of the aggression in 2023 and were buried in the brotherly cemeteries of Stepanakert and the surrounding districts, to reinter them at Yerablur," stated Samvel Shahramanyan.

According to him, this issue was already discussed two years ago with both the authorities of Armenia and representatives of Azerbaijan, and a preliminary agreement was reached. However, the process has yet to take place.
