Russia Evaluates Cooperation Prospects with the USA

Russia and the USA are facing a number of issues on which the two countries could collaborate following the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, said Alexey Chepa, Vice Chair of the State Duma’s International Affairs Committee, to Lenta.ru.

"The question of a quick peace agreement regarding Ukraine is crucial. We know how much our people want this... There are other matters that are equally important—disarmament, space issues, nuclear waste, and the environment," he emphasized.

According to Chepa, economic cooperation between the two countries is also a subject of discussion.

Previously, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated during a press conference at the conclusion of the strategic dialogue between Russia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) that the USA understands that Ukraine should not oppose Russia, but rather focus on addressing the root causes of the crisis.

As noted by Lavrov, Russia is grateful to the GCC countries for their "balanced position" regarding the Ukrainian crisis and for their assistance in resolving humanitarian issues.
