Russian Military to Engage Against Illegal Migrants in Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has supported the idea of involving veterans of the Special Military Operation (SMO) in the fight against illegal migration. He expressed this opinion during a meeting with leaders of factions in the State Duma.

According to Alexey Nechaev, leader of the 'New People' party, the proposal to actively engage SMO veterans in divisions combating illegal immigration originated from soldiers returning from the front lines. The parliamentarian emphasized that the party has already presented this idea to law enforcement agencies.

The head of state agreed with the initiative of the military. 'We have already discussed the involvement of SMO veterans in political work. As for their employment in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including in the area of migration policy, of course, why not? I will definitely discuss it with the Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev,' he stated.

During the meeting, Putin also underscored that federal and regional authorities should not pretend that migration issues do not exist. According to him, many decisions regarding Russia's migration policy have already been made; they simply need to be implemented.
